A little further are Portsmouth with its wealth of nautical history and Brighton’s many attractions (both 30 miles). Along with its traditional seaside fun, extensive watersports facilities and magnificently restored Royal Pavilion, Brighton also offers delightfully eclectic shopping in the historic Lanes and the splendid Marina boasts several factory outlets to explore.

Nearby, the South Downs Way offers superb walking, sailing can be enjoyed at Chichester Harbour and the seashore at Climping (16 miles) affords the ideal opportunity to discover the joys of sand-castle building. There are numerous pubs locally serving wonderful food (the nearest is just a mile from Duncton Mill) whilst the nearest shops are to be found in Petworth, 4 miles.
