The Empty Chair

This is an exploration of Stillness as a revelation in the body using the model of Craniosacral Therapy. This revelation occurs at a level of Being where no pathology exists and is the opening to Emptiness or Source.

Emptiness is not no-thing. It is dynamic potential unexpressed and is what is already there, continually expressing as form. It must be approached from Stillness, not by searching and striving.

The task then, will be to surrender that which keeps us separate from that Source from which rebirth into a better adapted way of Being can take place, right here, right now, unobstructed by the reactivity of undigested life-experience.

This is Mike’s particular offering to practitioners of whatever modality, who are drawn to work at a deep level. Mike specifically honours all levels of work as being co-emergent - coming from the same source- we could say.

The course will be especially appropriate for people who have experienced this sort of work in their practice, either taught or spontaneously revealed, whoever they may have studied with.

We shall hope to work, in beautiful surroundings, in an atmosphere that is at the same time, safe, loving and containing humour.

Numbers will be limited to twenty and Mike will have two experienced assistants.

The title “The Empty Chair” reflects Mike’s latest work, which emphasises the Teaching, rather than the Teacher, thus making it particularly suitable for those who do teach, or aspire to teach, whatever their subject.

Let us experience how Stillness, as a state of Being can enhance the therapeutic journey, whatever our modality. Mike defines Craniosacral therapy, in its most fulfilled potential as being “a journey, taken by two, or more people, in joint practice, to a level of Being where there is no pathology.”

These five days are about exploring that theme, as a felt sense, in the body. Knowing, by definition, can only take us so far. We are limited in our reliance on the Intellect. With some surrender of that knowing we can hope to enter the infinite creative potential of unknowing which is Emptiness. That is the proposition; let us see if we can make it the experience!

The teacher cannot have another person’s experience, what he/she can hope to do is provide safe surroundings in which the revelation can arise, that we are more than the limited view of ourselves which arises from our undigested life experience.

The task is to be still and present and allow the intelligence of the body to speak without judgment from the intellect. Intelligence knows in a way that personal intellect cannot hope to.

We do not have to discard our skills, and we all have probably, more than we think we have, just allow the synergy of relationship with others, which combines all skills, do the work, in Stillness.

This seminar will be very suitable to all who are drawn to work profoundly with the body and for those who have worked with Mike before it will serve as a deepening and a refresher. It will not be a repeat of anything as the course is a revelation of the beings that are present.
