“Introduction to THE BLESSINGS OF INSECURITY”

Many people, not only therapists have been impressed by the effects of Craniosacral therapy and have perhaps, assumed that it is something that only highly trained practitioners do.  This is quite correct if we want to make a profession of it and intend to charge people a fee for working, therapeutically with their problems/diseases.

If that is what we want to do, then we must undertake a professional training course at one or other of the registered training colleges.  We could put you in touch with those, should you develop an interest.

However, what Mike has observed, during some 35 years of practice, is that there are a number of people who have no intention of becoming therapists but who do value the personal growth potential in aspects of the training. In all deep level work, it could be said that it is where the practitioner is coming from that really counts, not what she is DOING to the client.

The ability to just be able to be with what is, to just hear the story in stillness, is very healing. This is true of all relationships, not just the therapeutic one.

The difficulty, for most of us, is that to just fully hear, without have to make a judgment or offer an opinion, makes us feel rather insecure.

Why do we make an enemy of insecurity? All growth, by definition is into the unknown. Let us make an ally of insecurity in our lives and allow ourselves to work with it. If we know where we are going we are going round in circles.

There is a way of moving in this world unaided by certainty ..........with mind wide open and closed to answers, feel for the way (LAO TZU)

This course is designed to allow us to spend three days in most beautiful surroundings, exploring gently through simple hands-on, and meditation practices, (fully clothed and in the safety of a well held group,) the possibilities for growth inherent in Stillness, a commodity that tends to be in short supply in most of our busy lives.

The numbers are limited to sixteen.  The only qualifications are a willingness to be open  to whatever reveals itself in us and others, in this particular moment.

We should be able to have a lot of fun and learn something useful at the same time, about how our life-stories tend to keep us from being spontaneous to the present.  We shall do some hands –on work, some meditation, some walking, perhaps a little yoga, and may even  tell some stories round the bonfire.

We also get to spend three days in glorious countryside with a bunch of lovely people.

The food is excellent, we are blessed with a superb vegetarian cook and the very comfortable accommodation is in spacious twin rooms.  The site comprises four cottages and a large house and a dedicated workshop space in 3000 acres of outstanding natural beauty

In the past, Mike has worked with Housewives, Artists, Lawyers, Salesmen, Doctors, Priests, Therapists, Poets, Singers, Brokers, and Clowns.  We are all probably a mixture of many of these, at some level.  We are all people.

In spite of several hundred years of programming, can we remember to be Human Beings and let go of being Human Doings?  Underneath this, perhaps new age, phrase, lies the truth that real healing can take place when we are fully heard at a deep level of being. Let us play with this thought.

Visitors to the delightful properties at Duncton Mill are welcome to wander the estate’s 30 acres of woodland and old orchards, with their 8 acres of spring-fed trout lakes offering year-round fly fishing, and also to enjoy shared use of the games room and the heated outdoor swimming pool. We have recently completed the installation, in the woods above the main house, of a beautiful Buddha statue set in a mandala and surrounded by a meditation walkway. This is open to anyone who may appreciate a very still space for contemplation.
