Course details
An advanced training with Mike Boxhall exclusively for those who have completed the Embodiment of Spirit series.
will be held at:
Duncton Mill,
Near Petworth,
West Sussex
in 3 modules of 6 days
August 16th - 22nd 2007
November 13th - 19th 2007
April 7th - 13th 2008
To be called
“The Bliss of Being Ordinary (BOBO) ”
The commitment is to the whole course.
The course has been redesigned after experience of the first running, partly but not exclusively, to accommodate people who have a long way to travel and will now consist of three modules of six days instead of six modules of three days.
These courses have been well received and several people have come back for more knowing that no two series will ever be the same.
The format will be that in each six day module, another teacher will present an approach to Spirituality from their own particular background and training during the first three days and Mike will attempt to ground that learning into the felt-sense in the body, in the second three days. This seems more immediate than leaving Mike to integrate the work at the end of the whole course, as was the case when the course was in six modules.
The two main thrusts of the course are to reinforce the concept that in deep level work, it is where we come from, rather than what we do, that is important and to see that other “roads to Rome “ are to be equally honoured. We are not special or exclusive. Rather, by being more expanded and aware of our relationship to each other and all things, we are truly ordinary. It is the sense of separation and exclusivity, that is pathological.
The course will be held at Duncton Mill. www.dunctonmill.co.uk An extraordinarily calm and beautiful site.
The external teachers will be:-
Dr James Low, Buddhist scholar, Spiritual teacher, Psychotherapist and Supervisor. Has a very wide-ranging knowledge of eastern spirituality and practice and also has a substantial in-sight into the deeper applications of Biodynamic CST. He is at the same time my supervisor, and external moderator at Karuna Institute on the MA in Psychotherapy training. He has a satisfactorily wicked sense of humour. James is becoming a permanent fixture!
Mark Nepo is a poet and philosopher who has taught in the fields of poetry and spirituality for over thirty years. Nominated for the Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize, he has written several books. Of special note is The Exquisite Risk (Harmony Books, NY, 2005) which Spirituality & Health Magazine cited as one of the Best Spiritual Books of 2005, calling it “one of the best books we’ve ever read on what it takes to live an authentic life.” This precisely the aim of the Bliss of Being Ordinary. The authentic is ordinary.
As a cancer survivor, Mark remains committed to the usefulness of daily inner life. Through both his writing and teaching, he devotes himself to the life of inner transformation and relationship, exploring the expressive journey of healing where the paths of art and spirit meet. For 18 years, Mark taught at the State University of New York at Albany. He now serves as a Program Officer for the Fetzer Institute in Kalamazoo, Michigan, a non-profit foundation devoted to fostering awareness of the power of love and forgiveness in the emerging global community. He continues to give readings, lectures, and retreats and we welcome him to Duncton Mill with open arms.
The third external teacher will be announced very shortly. Previous contributors have included Maura Sills, spiritual psychotherapist, Marlis Schultz, spiritual ecologist, Nikki Slade, spiritual voice trainer, and Rachel Caine, spiritual clown.
Mike Boxhall. You know, I suppose.
I hope that it comes across that this mixture of people and their talents should facilitate our achieving something of the aims in the outline at the top of this document.
The course will be comprised of three blocks of six days and the commitment must be for the whole series.
This document is addressed to people who are experienced practitioners and have in many cases, very busy lives. There will be time for meditation, rest and, I hope, quite a lot of fun. The food will be very good and the surroundings are outstandingly beautiful.
There will be plenty of CSTs there if you want a session!!! We could also arrange a massage therapist and yoga in the early morning for a modest fee to the therapist/teacher.
Joining time would be about 5 pm on the first day and leaving after lunch on the last day.
